Privacy Policy
Effective June 22, 2026
This policy explains what Feynman does and does not collect. What is true depends on how this instance is deployed; this page reflects the hosted mode of this deployment.
Hosted deployment: what is processed
In this hosted deployment, the tutor runs on a server operated by the operator of this deployment. To provide the Service we process:
- Your messages to the tutor, which are sent to the server to generate a reply. They are processed transiently to produce your answer.
- Limited technical data, including your IP address (used to rate-limit and protect the Service) and standard request logs.
- Opt-in web-search queries: only when you choose “Search the web,” your query is sent to an external search service to retrieve academic sources.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use your messages to serve advertising or to profile you.
- We do not require an account to use the tutor.
Retention
Messages are processed transiently and are not retained as a profile. Operational logs are kept only as long as needed for security and reliability. [Operator to state the exact retention period and any training-data use - the default is no training on user content.]
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g., under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or similar laws), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise them, contact [set FEYNMAN_OPERATOR_CONTACT].
Children's privacy
Feynman's lessons are designed for a K-12 audience, so children may use it. We minimize data by design: no accounts and no behavioral tracking. Where a school deploys Feynman, the school directs the processing of student data and acts as the responsible party (for example, providing any consent required under COPPA, FERPA, and applicable state student-privacy laws) under a written agreement. We process student data only to provide the Service to the school.
Safety
Feynman screens messages for high-severity safety categories (such as self-harm) to keep the tutor age-appropriate. If a self-harm signal is detected, the tutor shows crisis resources (including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US) instead of a normal reply. Safety screening is automated and may not catch every case; it is not a substitute for a trusted adult or professional help.
