How AI Sees
To a computer, a photo is just a grid of numbers. Watch meaning appear.
What your eye sees: a face.
1
A picture is numbers
Every image is a grid of tiny dots, each stored as a brightness number. There is no 'cat' inside, just numbers. Zoom in and you'll see them.
2
Find the edges
Where brightness jumps suddenly, dark to light, an object's outline lives. Computers find those jumps to go from numbers toward shapes.
3
From shapes to meaning
Stack edge-finding into layers and early layers see edges, later ones see eyes and ears, the last one says 'cat.' That's computer vision.
