Fitting the puzzle piece
Ages 3–5The big idea
Turning a shape doesn't change what shape it is, only which way it's facing.
Think of it like fitting a puzzle piece into its slot: You often have to turn a piece before it fits, but it's the exact same piece the whole time.
Turn it until it fits
A puzzle piece won't go into its slot. Turn it a little. Turn it again. It's the same piece the entire time; only the direction it's facing changed.
👉 Try turning an object (a block, a shoe, a puzzle piece) until it lines up with where it needs to go.
